Instead of just telling you why you should say NO to Canola oil, I’m just going to give you some facts and you can decide for yourself:

  • Initially used for industrial manufacturing
  • Although derived from the rape seed plant, it is usually genetically modified
  • Over utilized in the market because it is very inexpensive and is low quality
  • Deodorizers are typically used in the making of canola oil
  • Before the rapeseed was genetically engineered, about two-thirds of the monounsaturated fatty acids were erucic acid. Erucic acid was associated with Keshan’s disease, a condition which is characterized by fibrous lesions of the heart. Click Here for Source
  • Canola Oil goes through the process of bleaching, degumming, deodorizing, caustic refining, mechanical pressing, and solvent extract, usually using hexane. Click Here for Source
