I love biscuits and gravy, but it’s one of those food items that is hard to find on a restaurant menu and when you do, it’s not as good as you would have expected. Making biscuits and gravy at home is easy and simple, believe me, and the beauty of this recipe is that it doesn’t require a large amount of ingredients. Take the time to make this recipe and you will be overjoyed with how good your Biscuits and Gravy come out.
To start off, I bake about two pounds of chicken, sprinkled with sea salt, that’s it, they don’t need anything else. Once the chicken is baked, I remove the cooked chicken from the pan, cut them up to my desired size, and use the chicken fat to cook the onion and make the chicken and gravy. Isn’t that wonderful?
No oil is needed in our Biscuits and Gravy recipe, the chicken fat is a natural oil that you will get from your baked chicken thighs.
While the chicken bakes, I start making the biscuits, it only takes four ingredients to create these beauties. Once your chicken is done baking, turn the oven on at 500F. and bake the biscuits anywhere from 7 to 10 minutes, or until the biscuits turn golden brown. Don’t worry about having to use a biscuit cutter, let’s be realistic, how many people have biscuit cutters at home. Just use a knife and shape the biscuits as you want them shaped… their homemade after all.
The biscuits bake quickly, so make sure to keep an eye on them. They come out with a beautiful golden brown color.
Below are the ingredients that you need for the gravy, don’t forget the chicken and chicken fat from earlier.
The finished Biscuits and Gravy, pictured below, is delicious, I never knew that I could make such delicious biscuits and gravy. What’s best? Knowing what ingredients you put into it. Enjoy!
